Private Ernest Yeates is mentioned a number of time in the Badsey parish magazine., in hospital in France with shrapnel wounds in the right arm and left leg (December 1917), in hospital at Banbury and progressing satisfactorily (January 1918), progressing favourably (February 1918), and was wounded on 26th September but remained on duty (October 1918). The December 1918 parish magazine reports that Mrs E. Yeates received the sad news that her husband who had been missing since 29th September was reported as killed in action or died of wounds on or near that date. Private Yeates joined the colours in January 1917 and went to France the following April. He was severely wounded in November 1917 was in hospital in Oxford and Banbury and rejoined his regiment in April 1918, returning to France in August. A memorial service was held at Badsey on 20th November.
