Further Information About WRIGHT Reginald Harry
Appears on the role of honour on the Supplementary List under Norwich Depot with the information: 1st Norfolk Regt.
Reginald Harry Wright enlisted in the Norfolk Regiment on 26th March 1915 at Felixstowe. However, this date appear to be incorrect as other papers in his service records give his date of engagement as either the 1st or 4th September 1914 at Norwich. On his attestation paper dated 26th March 1915 he gave his age as 20 years 1 month, his place of birth as St Thomas, Heigham, Norwich, Norfolk and his occupation as a Motor Mechanic. He was 6 feet tall with a fresh complexion, blue eyes and dark brown hair.
Harry’s service papers record that he remained on home service until 20th April 1915 when he was posted overseas to France, arriving there on the following day. His next of kin were his mother, Emily Wright, 1 Pembroke Road, Norwich and his brother, Francis Samuel Wright, 2nd Life Guards, Windsor.
There appears to have been an error when Reginald’s name was inscribed on his grave stone as his surname is spelt WIGHT rather than Wright. The grave photo available therefore has the surname spelt as Wight. I have notified the CWGC of this error in order for them to correct the mistake.
