Gordon Worrall enlisted in the Royal Armoured Corps and was posted to the 40th (King’s Liverpool) Royal Tank Regiment in 23 Armoured Brigade. This brigade went to Egypt to join 30th Corps in the North African campaign in July 1942. They were engaged immediately in the defence of Alamein, and then fought at Alam Halfa, Alamein and during the whole campaign in Tunisia. They took part in the Sicily landings from 9-12 July 1943 and in the Salerno landing on the 9th September. During the advance to Naples Sergeant Gordon Worrall was killed in action on the 27th September.
