United Parish Magazine, Witley section, August 1916:
Of Thorp and Willsher nothing has been heard since they were reported missing. We sympathize with those in sorrow and anxiety on their account, and it is sad to think that we may not see them here again. They have given their lives in doing the utmost they could for us, and no man can do more.

United Parish Magazine, Witley section, September 1916:
There are now six of our Witley men prisoiners: George T in Germany, C. Butler, Jack Preece, Fred Rowley, Jack Williams and Willsher in Turkey. We should remember them in our prayers, not only them, but those who are sorrowing and anxious at home.

United Parish Magazine, Witley section, December 1917:
A memorial service and the dedication of the war shrine took place on Sunday November 4th at Great Witley Chapel —— The shrine is the more interesting from the fact that it is made of the wood of the Britannia.  An old battleship, which was, until a few years ago, the training place of all our naval officers.
