Further Information About WILCOCK Norman Bunker
Norman Wilcock attended Worcester Royal Grammar School from 1925 to 1927. On the night of 21st/22nd June 1944, he was the bomb aimer on a Lancaster that took off from East Kirby to bomb the synthetic oil plant at Wesseling. Thick cloud shrouding the target ensured that little damage was done to the plant but of the 133 Lancaster bombers involved in the raid, 37 of them were shot down by German nightfighters. Norman’s aircraft crashed near Oisterwijk, Netherlands, bursting into flames and killing the entire crew.
