Walter Webb enlisted in the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force on 27th October 1914 at Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada.  On his attestation paper he gave his date of birth as 25th September 1889 at Reading, Berkshire, England, his occupation as a grocer and his next of kin as Walter V. Webb, 84 Whitley St., Reading, England.  He had 4 years previous military experience with the Yeomanry.  Walter was 5 feet 6½ inches tall with a ruddy complexion, dark brown eyes and dark hair.
