A letter from John’s sister, Joan M. Watson, 27 St Georges Square, Worcester, dated 18th February (no year) can be found within war records held at Worcestershire Archives requesting that his name be added to the county roll of honour. The letter states that Probationary Temporary Surgeon Lieutenant John Mortimer Watson, RNVR, HMS Diamond was lost off Greece on 27th April 1941.
A further letter from Reverend James G. McNought, St George’s Vicarage, dated 19th May 1950 can be found within war records held at Worcestershire Archives requesting that John Mortimer Watson be added to the county roll of honour.
