A letter from the Reverend W.A. Trippass, St Nicholas, Droitwich dated 23rd May 1950 can be found within war records held at Worcestershire Archives requesting that Douglas Walters be added to the county roll of honour.
The following information has been researched by Peter Kennedy:
40 Ombersley St Droitwich. Mrs Walters had been informed by the International Red Cross that her son had been shot down near Le Vast, near Cherbourg, Northern France. He was educated at Bromsgrove School and had been employed by the Austin Motor Company before the war. He was a keen tennis and football player. HIs uncle Gunner Harry Walters was also killed in the war. 59 Squadron was based at Thorley Island Kent and had been involved in reconnaissance/bombing/anti-submarine activities over Northern France in September 1940.
