The following report appears in the Upton News of 19th January 1918:
Mr and Mrs Walker, of New Street, Upton-on-Severn, who in the early part of last year were informed by the War Office that their son, Pte. James Walker, of the Hereford Regiment, was wounded and missing, have now received official intimation that he was killed in action in Egypt on April 17th. The deceased was only 20 years of age.
(Missing in first attack on Gaza, 25th to 27th March 1917, and subsequent withdrawal. Battalion casualties in this action: killed 17, wounded 192, missing 26). Listed in the Roll of Honour in the Herefordshire Regimental History “Manu Forti”., page 166.
