Ernest was killed near Caen, Normandy. He had joined the army in 1940. He had been employed as manager by the London Central Meat Company in the High Street, Droitwich. He had lived at Checketts Avenue, Wychbold and his parents lived in Hay on Wye. He was a keen boxer.
