Harold Tolley is believed to have been fostered and he lived in the Broomhall area. He attended Lindridge School and later joined the Merchant Navy.
S.S. Mabitron was a British cargo steamer built in 1920. She was torpedoed without warning at 03.25am on 25th September 1940 by U-32, 500 miles west of Ireland, and sunk with the loss of 12 men from her crew of 37.
