Killed in battle of Poelcapelle, 3rd battle of Ypres. In this action on the same day, Private Fred Dancox of the same Battalion won a Victoria Cross.

The following report appears in the Upton on Severn News, 27th October 1917:
Pte. Taylor Killed.
The sad news has been received by his relatives at Earl’s Croome that Pte Leonard Taylor, of the Worcester Regt, has been killed in action. Prior to joining up Pte Taylor was in the employ of Lt.-Col. And the Hon. Mrs C.J. Coventry at Earl’s Croome Court, having previously worked for for Mr. Gerald and Lady Barbara Dudley-Smith in the gardens at Strensham Court. The deceased, we understand, served an apprenticeship with Mr. H. Cowley, draper etc., The Cross, but relinquished the occupation for the open-air life on the land.
