Further Information About TAYLOR Fred
Berrow’s Worcester Journal, Saturday 25th May 1940:
Clifton-on-Teme Airman Missing
News has been received by his mother Mrs A. L. Taylor, of The Village, Clifton-on-Teme, that her eldest son, Leading Aircraftman A. J. Taylor, who was in the R.A.F., had failed to return after a flight on May 14, in which he was acting as a wireless operator and air gunner.
Aircraftman Taylor was educated at Clifton School, and won a bursary to the Victoria Technical School, where he took up the commercial side. He went from there to Kay’s for a time, and joined the R.A.F. three years ago. He became a Leading Aircraftman on his 21st birthday, Dec. 21 last. He had been in France since September last.
Mrs Taylor, who is a widow, has another son, aged 19, in the Army.
A letter from Reverend J.L Nordon, The Vicarage, Clifton on Teme dated April 1950 can be found within war records held at Worcestershire Archives requesting that Fred Taylor be added to the county roll of honour.
