Albert Ernest Taylor was born on 9th May 1888 in the village of Pensax, Worcestershire. He resided in the village of Kinlet when he was appointed as Police Constable No 323, Worcester Constabulary on 5th October 1909. He was single and his previous employment was for Mr D. Brooks in Kinlet as a labourer. He was 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighed 12 stone 6lbs, his chest measurement was 36 inches and he had a fresh complexion with grey eyes and brown hair. Albert spent 7 years and 239 days with the constabulary, rising to Constable 1st Class, working at Police Headquarters in Worcester until 2nd March 1910 and then at Evesham police station from 3rd March 1910 until 20th August 1912. On 21st August 1912 he transferred to Pershore police station until 13th May 1914 and on 14th May 1914 he moved to Dudley Borough Police Station where he remained until he resigned from the police force on 31st May 1917 to enlist in the army on 1st June 1917. Between the 22nd November and 8th December 1916, Albert was off sick for a total of 15 days. He married Millicent M. Prosser from Cleeve Prior on 30th November 1914 and they had a daughter, Annie Elizabeth, born in 1915.
