Ronald Sudbury attended Worcester Royal Grammar School from 1925 to 1934. He was the Captain of Temple House in the school and the 2nd XI cricket team of 1934. After leaving school he attended Merton College, Oxford where he passed out with a third class honours degree in 1938. From Oxford he entered the Burmese Civil Service and took up a post in Rangoon after studying Burmese. He enlisted in the militia and was taught anti-aircraft gunnery.
On 23rd December 1941 Ronald was in charge of a 40mm gun team when the aerodrome came under attack from Japanese aircraft. A bomb fell directly onto the gun pit instantly killing Ronald and six other men alongside him.
