Frank Still enlisted in the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force on 14th February 1916 at Fort Frances, Ontario, Canada.  On his attestation form he gave his date of birth as 2nd June 1892 in Market Drayton, England, his occupation as a Cashier, his next of kin as his wife, Mrs Florence Agnes Best Still and their current address as 427 Russel Avenue, Minneapolis, Minnesota.  Frank was 5 feet 8 inches tall with blue eyes, light brown hair and a fair complexion.

Frank sailed from Halifax, Canada on the SS Olympic on 29th April 1917 and disembarked at Liverpool, England on 7th May 1917.  Whilst in England he was promoted to Lance Corporal on 10th May 1916, Corporal on 12th June 1916 and Sergeant on 25th October 1916.  He was posted overseas on 25th August 1917, arriving in France on 28th August 1917.  On 11th November 1917 Frank was admitted to No 9 Field Ambulance with a gunshot wound to his right hand.  He was subsequently transferred several times to No 53 General Hospital at Boulogne on 12th November 1917, No 1 Convalescent Depot, Boulogne, No 53 General Hospital Boulogne on 6th December 1917 with myalgia and No 1 Convalescent Depot.  Frank was finally discharged to Base Details on 13th February 1918 and 5 months later on 27th July 1918 he was killed in action.
