Louis Henry Sparrow was born on 7th October 1883, the son of Alfred Sparrow.  He attended Badsey Council School from 30th January 1890 until 31st March 1897.  In February 1915 the parish magazine states that Private L.H. Sparrow, stationed at Fowey received a hearty welcome from the local band of ringers and has already officiated in the belfry there.  By April 1915 he has been made a Lance Corporal and the magazine records that he was in Turkey in October 1915.  He was in hospital in Malta in January 1916 after being invalided from Gallipoli and in September 1916 the magazine reports that he has been wounded and his injuries are not serious.  The December issue of the parish magazine states that Corporal L.H. Sparrow was killed by a shell which fell on his dugout on the night of Sunday 22nd October.  The article continues with details of Louis Sparrow with entries in 3 further parish magazines.
