Further Information About SOLLIS Charles William R

The birth of Charles William R. Sollis is registered in the June Quarter 1897 under the Pershore Registration District. His death is registered as William R.C. Sollis, age 21, in the December Quarter 1918 under the Woolwich Registration District.

Charles Sollis enlisted as a Baker in the Army Service Corps on the 22nd February 1915 at the Guildhall Recruiting Office, 42 High Street, Worcester. On his attestation form he gave his address as Wyre near Pershore, his age as 19 years and his occupation as a Baker. He was 5 feet 3½ inches tall. Charles served overseas in France from the 29th May 1915 to the 13th December 1915 when he returned to the UK and remained on home service until he was discharged on the 6th November 1918 due to wounds or sickness and issued with a Silver War Badge. Charles died from a septic right thigh on the 26th December 1918 at the Royal Herbert Hospital, Shooters Hill, Woolwich.
