Further Information About SIEVERS Nowell Johnstone
Nowell/Noel Sievers was born in 1890. He attended Bromsgrove School from 1904 to 1909 where he was a Lance Corporal in Officer Training Corps. He passed to New College, Oxford with a scholarship in history. He was given a commission in August 1914 and his company in July 1915. In October he was wounded and was for some time in England but returned to the front in 1916. He had been mentioned in despatches and was, at the time of his death, Staff Captain. Though no soldier by taste, he found, as others have done that he could lead men and the war brought out his many qualities.
