Thomas Scott enlisted in the Royal Warwickshire Regiment for the duration of the war on 24th April 1917 at Worcester.  On his attestation paper he gave his address as 7 Midland Road, Worcester, his age as 21 years 2 months, his occupation as a District Lampman and his next of kin as his mother, Louisa Mealings of the same address.  It is probable that Thomas had previously been a Reservist as his military service is recorded as home 11.1.15 to 2.8.17, Expeditionary Force 3.8.17 to 8.10.17.  He joined his battalion in the field on 31st August 1917 and was first reported as missing, recorded as died of wounds on or since 8th October 1917 and later as killed in action on that date.

The General Register of Members of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants records Thomas Scott joining the Worcester branch of the union aged 18 on 16th June 1912 when he commenced work for the Great Western Railway as a porter.
