Private Harry Sadler is mentioned a number of times in the Badsey Parish Magazine. In November 1917 he was reported as being in Netley Hospital after being severely wounded by shrapnel in the left thigh and both feet. A big toe had been amputated and he was progressing as well as could be expected. This continued through December 1917 and January 1918, when he had been moved to the hospital at Romsey. He was convalescent in February 1918 and discharged from the army on 3rd July 1918 due to his wounds. In November 1918 the parish magazine records his death at the Northumberland War Hospital Gosforth on 18th October as a result of pneumonia following influenza. He was buried in Badsey churchyard on 23rd October 1918.
