Shrawley Parish Magazine, November 1917:
Tom Rowley has been killed in action.  He was a regular member of our Choir and exemplary character in Shrawley, and a good soldier.  The blow of losing two sons so soon together can only be borne by God’s help.  That we most deeply sympathize with his family is all we can say on paper.  May it help them to remember that he is one of the noble army of martyrs who have given their lives in God’s service for righteousness, justice and liberty. R.I.P.
