Shrawley Parish Magazine, August 1915:
We were glad to see Bert Rowley home on leave and looking so well after several months of active service.
Shrawley Parish Magazine, September 1917:
To the growing list of those who have made the great sacrifice, the name of Bert Rowley is added. He was killed in action, while in charge of his gun somewhere in France. Letters to his mother from his C.O., Chaplain, and Sergeant, all speak of him as an excellent soldier, and a lovely and loved comrade. These tributes of esteem, affection, and regret, are highly valued, and have brought comfort and justifiable pride to the members of his family, to whom, on behalf of Shrawley generally, we offer our sincere sympathy. R.I.P.
