Francis Rothen attended Worcester Royal Grammar School from 1897 to 1900. He was the son of Mr and Mrs Rothen of College Yard, Worcester. He resided in Thornton Heath when he enlisted in the Queen’s Westminster Rifles in Westminster. The day he was killed marked the end of the first phase of the Battle of Arras.
