KILLED IN ACTION
The Chief Constable informed the meeting that Pol. Cons. Samuel B. Rollinson, whose home is at Northfield, and who was formerly stationed at Lye, was now presumed dead.
Pol. Cons. Rollinson, who was a very able young officer, had been serving with the R.A.F. in the Middle East and was originally reported missing. On this particular occasion he should not have been on duty, but volunteered to take the place of a member of an air crew who was unwell.
The Chief Constable added that he understood the crew went out over Sicily on a bomber operation and unfortunately something happened to them.
Pol. Cons. Rollinson, who was single, is the son of an ex-police-sergeant, who was formerly at Stourport.
Samuel Rollinson has no known grave, the photograph available shows his name on Malta Memorial.
