Our Roll of Honour
We have, from time to time, given the names of those connected with our parish who are serving in the War. A wish has been expressed that we should have a complete list printed, stating the particular branch of service in which each man is engaged. We accede to this request in supplying the following Roll:-
William Rogers Sussex Regt (as part of a list of names)
United Parish Magazine, April 1916:
We have sustained another loss. With sincerest regret and deepest sympathy with his relatives, we record the death of William Rogers, No 4195, 7th Batt. Royal Sussex Regt. He was killed in action ‘somewhere in France’ on March 4th. He was a good, kind, religious lad, confirmed and a Communicant at our Church. But latterly he had been in the employ of the Duke of Norfolk, and he joined the Susses Regt. in company with others from the Duke’s estates. He was wounded earlier in the war and returned to duty only a short time before his death.
William Rogers has no known grave, the photograph available shows his name on Loos Memorial, surname spelt Rodgers.
