His birth is recorded as David Cecil, he is listed by this name on the 1911 census, in the newspaper report into his death and on Droitwich War Memorial as simply D. Rogers. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission lists him as Cecil David Rogers (with the incorrect age of 24 years) as does the Army casualty list for Worcestershire. He is also recorded on the 1939 census as C. David Rogers.

Local Soldier Drowned
Mrs Sarah Rogers, of 15 Woodfield Road, Droitwich, has been officially informed that her only son, Pte. David Cecil Rogers, was drowned in a hospital ship in October 1944. He had been wounded on August 1. Pte. Rogers was attached to a battalion of the Worcestershire Regiment and had been in the army for five years. He was the son of the late Mr D. Rogers.
