Further Information About ROGERS Charles Thomas
Born in Crowle on 15th June 1922, Charles Rogers was a talented sportsman who was selected at the age of 16 to play for Worcester City Football Club. He was also a talented artist and was employed in the men’s gilding room at Royal Worcester Porcelain works. He volunteered in 1940, joining the R.A.F. and commencing training at Lichfield as an armourer. His Stirling bomber crashed into an electricity pylon whilst taking off on a training exercise from an air base in Cambridgeshire on 28th November 1942. Charles was the sole survivor of the crash but he was badly burned and died from his injuries two days later.
