David Richmond enlisted in the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force on 27th April 1916 at Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada. On his attestation paper he gave his date of birth as 5th June 1882 in Birmingham, England, his address as Vulcan, Alberta and his occupation as a farmer. He was a widower and he had 7 years previous military service with the 2nd Battalion Shropshire Regiment. David was 5 feet 5¾ inches tall with a medium complexion, blue eyes and dark brown hair. His marriage to Annie Glasscoe is registered in the September Quarter 1918 under the Kings N. Registration District.
