Lance Corporal G. Randle, 4th Battalion Welsh regiment is listed in “Stourport Men and the War” – a list of men serving, Kidderminster Shuttle, 19th December 1914.
George William Randle, 4th Battalion Welsh Territorials, Stourport recruits Kidderminster Times 21st November 1914.
George Randle enlisted at Llanelli, (his sister Mrs. W. Beard resided at 35 Westbury Street, Llanelli). He joined the Welsh Regiment on 4th August, 1914 and served at Gallipoli where he was promoted to Sergeant on the battle-field at Suvla Bay in August 1915. Invalided with dysentry without coming home, after rejoining his regiment he crossed the desert 150 miles to Gaza, where he was killed in action. Prior to enlisting he was employed by Messrs. T.B. Worth & Co. for some years and was connected with the Congregational P.S.A. Two of his brothers are on active service, Harry in the Royal Field Artillery in France and Donald in the Navy. His brother-in-law, Company Sgt. Major W. Beard, also served in the 4th Welsh Regiment.
