The following report appears in the Worcester Daily Times, Friday 10th March 1916:
Official information has been received by Mr & Mrs C Pretty of Droitwich Road, Feckenham, that their son, Private A Pretty, 4th Worcestershire, 29th Division, was killed at the Dardanelles on August 6th 1915. Private Petty’s parents had been informed last September that their son was missing, since when, however, they had no tidings of him. He joined the forces in January last year, and after a brief training was sent with his regiment to the Dardanelles in July. The deceased soldier was 23 years of age.
Alexander Pretty has no known grave, the photograph available shows his name on the Worcestershire Regiment Panel on Helles Memorial.
