Appears in the Worcester/Worcestershire Roll of Honour Book for army casualties located in Worcester Cathedral under Malvern casualties with the information: The Royal Fusiliers.

Felix Preece was born at Birlingham, Worcestershire. He enlisted as Private 4837, Royal Fusiliers on 21st September 1914, serving at home until 2nd July 1915 when he was posted overseas. Felix was discharged as ‘being no longer physically fit for war service’ on 5th April 1916 when he was described as having a fresh complexion, brown eyes and brown hair. His age was given as 20 years 6 months, his height as 5 feet 7 inches, his occupation as a Motor Mechanic and his intended place of residence as May Cottage, Quest Hills, Malvern Link, Worcestershire, the residence of his parents, William and Jane Preece.

Cause of Discharge: G.S.W. Right Forearm
In action 16 Aug 1915 Cape Helles hit by shrapnel in wrist which is full of shrapnel fragments and dust periodically suppurating but now healed. Medical Board 3.3.16. Permanent.

He is now a patient at Knightwick Sanatorium totally incapacitated with Tubercular Phthisis which is stated on the Medical Superintendent’s notes to have commenced in March 1916.

Felix Preece died of tuberculosis at May Cottage on 11th December 1916 after being discharged from hospital.
