One more name to be added to those parishioners who have made the ‘Great Sacrifice’. James Henry Powick, while serving on H.M.S Victory, contracted pneumonia, and it proved fatal. His life was truly given for his King and Country as if he had been killed in action. We congratulate his family on his answer to the call of duty and sympathise with them in their sorrow R.I.P.
HMS Victory was a shore based Royal Navy establishment, namely Portsmouth barracks. HMS Diadem was a Stokers Training Ship.
