The following information has been researched by Sue Fellows:
James was the son of James and Ellen (nee Carpenter) Plaskett of Bringsty. He married Alice Cottrell of Ledbury and the couple settled in Longley Green, Suckley. He enlisted in the Royal Engineers in London on 15th October 1915 at the age of 46 years. James was attached to working parties who undertook hazardous duties. He was killed by a single shot to the head on 1st December 1917.
