Appears on the Army casualties list for Worcestershire.

Henry Philpotts was born on 3rd May 1925. He entered Foster House, Old Swinford Hospital on 19th June 1934.

The 156th Battalion of the 1st Airborne Division were part of Operation ‘Market Garden’. On the morning of 18th September 1944 they were scheduled to jump from Dakota aircraft over their designated drop zone. The aircraft were delayed by low lying mist at their airfields resulting in a delay of several hours.  Arriving over their drop zone at 15.00 hours they met exceptionally heavy flak during the final 20 minutes of the run-in.  The Dakota carrying Henry Philpotts was hit and brought down by anti-aircraft fire.
