Owen Phillips attended Worcester Royal Grammar School from 1904 to 1910. .He was the only son of John and Kate Phillips and after leaving school he attended Keble College at Oxford. .After enlisting in the South Wales Borderers he was gazetted as 2nd Lieutenant on 26th August 1914 and was sent to Gallipoli in June 1915.
