Alfred Pembroke was born in 1877. He attended Malvern College in House 7 from 1890 to 1894.

In 1891 Alfred Pembroke, born Blackheath, London, was serving as a Captain with the army.

According to Malvern College records Alfred Pembroke served in the South African war, retiring from the army in 1913. On the outbreak of war he joined the Lancashire Fusiliers with the rank of Captain. He did not serve overseas due to poor health. He died of illness on 7th September 1916 and was buried at Greenwich on 9th September 1916.
