Further Information About PEARSON Benjamin

Resident Lye, Worcestershire, enlisted Stourbridge, Worcestershire.

Benjamin Pearson volunteered for the Worcesters and joined the 4th Battalion.  They were sent out to Gallipoli in April 1915 but the first landing, though successful, gained only a foothold in this difficult terrain.  Three battles at the village of Krithia failed to drive the Turks back and the troops had to endure the difficulties of trench warfare in the ravines and gullies of the Gallipoli terrain.  Private Benjamin Pearson was killed in action during the sporadic trench fighting.
