Albert Edward Parsons enlisted as Private 26454 in the Royal Warwickshire Regiment on 12th September 1916 at Stourbridge. On his attestation paper he gave his age as 17 years, 10 months, his address as 32 Bagley Street, Stambermill near Stourbridge and his occupation as a Pit Bank Man. Due to his age he was transferred to the Army Reserve until he was 18 the following year. When Albert was mobilised he was transferred to the Durham Light Infantry and given a new regimental service number: 86978. He was posted missing in the field on 27th May 1918 having only been overseas since 3rd April 1918. Albert died as a prisoner of war in German hands in the hospital at Heilsberg from General Weakness. Documentation completed by his father in October 1919 gives Albert’s family still living as his parents: Albert and Margaret Ann Parsons, brothers: J. William age 19, Leonard age 7, George, age 7 months, sisters: Alice age 15, Clara age 12, Olive age 9, Evelyn age 3, all resident at 32 Bagley Street, Stourbridge.
