Further Information About PARRY Alfred William

Alfred was born on 6th June 1895 in Bromsgrove, the son of Andrew and Ann Parry. In 1901, Andrew was a labourer in a quarry and the family lived at Windsor Square. Their eldest child was Edith, followed by Alfred, Walter and then Charles. In 1911, Alfred was living with his widowed maternal grandmother, Ann Edwards, in St John’s Street. Also living there were four of Ann’s children: Annie, Joseph, a labourer with the railway, Alice, who was a domestic servant and Christopher, who was an ironmonger’s assistant. Alfred aged 16 was a chemist’s porter.

Alfred enlisted as a Private in the Worcestershire Regiment and landed in Gallipolli on 4th July, 1915. He was killed in action aged 20 on the 10th August 1915.
