Further Information About PAGETT Charles Thomas

Charles Pagett was born in 1894 and was the son of Charles and Emily Pagett.  He attended Wollaston C of E School and by the time of the Great War they lived at 55 King Street, Wollaston.  He enlisted in the Worcesters in 1916 and joined the 4th Battalion.  After a costly involvement on the Somme in that year they were closely involved in the Third Battle of Ypres in 1917.  In July they fought at Langemarck and in October at Broodseinde and Poelcappelle.  The latter battle opened on the 9th October when the Worcesters were initially held up by many fortified pill boxes.  William Dancox won the Victoria Cross on this day, but Private Charles Pagett was killed in action.

Charles Pagett has no known grave, the photograph available shows his name on Tyne Cot Memorial.
