Private E. Morris 1st/1st Worcester Yeomanry, embarked at Avonmouth 9th April 1915 for service with the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, disembarked at Alexandria, Egypt on 24th April 1915. Died at Afion Kara Hissar 15th July 1916, Prisoner of War.

Ernest Morris was born at Tardebigge in 1889, the son of Thomas and Sarah Morris. Thomas was a carpenter and the couple had 6 children:-
They had 6 children:-
James Morris born 1883.
Annie Morris born 1885
Ernest Morris born 1889.
Elsie Morris born 1891
Ethel Morris born 1892.
Thomas William Morris born 1901.
The family resided at Foxlydiate and subsequently at Upper Bentley.

Bromsgrove, Droitwich and Redditch Messenger, 14th October 1916:
Mr and Mrs Morris, of Bentley, have received information to the effect that their son Private Ernest Morris of the Worcestershire Yeomanry, died a prisoner of war in Turkey, between the 9th and 15th July 1916. Private Morris was 27 years of age. Much sympathy is felt for his parents and the neighbourhood.
