John Moilliet enlisted in the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force on 20th September 1915 at Vancouver, British Columbia. On his attestation form he gave his date of birth as 20th March 1882 in Malvern, England, his next of kin as his mother Mrs Keir Moilliet, Abbotsleigh, Malvern, England and his occupation as a Schoolteacher. He was 5 feet 10¼ inches tall with brown eyes, dark brown hair and a fair complexion.

John sailed from Halifax, Canada on HMS Empress of Britain on 23rd April 1916 arriving at Liverpool, England on 7th May 1916. He proceeded for overseas service on 12th August 1916. On 10th April 1917 he was treated at No 4 Stationary Hospital at Arques, France for a gunshot wound to his left jaw. He was discharged back to duty on 20th April. John was killed in action on 28th June 1917.

John Lewis Moilliet, of the Canadians has been killed in action on the 29th June. He was 35 years old and the fourth son of the late Mr James Keir Moilliet of Abbotsleigh, Malvern.
