At the outbreak of the war the 2nd Battalion was serving in Mhow, India. The unit returned to England, arriving at Plymouth 22nd December 1914 and sailed from Avonmouth on 29th March 1915 boynd for Gallipoli, going via Egypt. The Battalion landed at Cape Helles on 25th April 1915.
