Further Information About MCNEILL Malcolm

Malcolm McNeill petitioned to enlist as a cadet in the Madras Cavalry in 1819. He was examined and passed on 5th January 1820. The son of a Gentleman of Landed Property in the County of Argyle, Scotland, Malcolm was educated at the College of Edinburgh in classical and mathematical studies.

On 22nd September 1823 at Wallajahbad, India, Malcolm McNeill, bachelor, Lieutenant and Adjutant 6th Regiment Light Cavalry married Emily Bennett, spinster, second daughter of Brevet Major Bennett, 69th Regiment of Foot.

Brigadier Malcolm McNeill, commanding 2nd Infantry Brigade Madras Division Army of Ava died at Rangoon on 8th December 1852.
