Further Information About MARSHALL Ernest William Knight

Ernest Marshall was born on 22nd April 1893, the son of Emma Marshall. He attended Badsey Council School from 27th April 1896 and from 2nd April 1900 until 23rd April 1906.  The Badsey parish magazine of April 1915 reported that news had reached the village on Monday 22nd March of the death of Private W. Marshall.  He had been one of the first to enlist and had been in the trenches almost continuously since Christmas.  He was wounded in the terrible fighting at Neuve Chapelle and died of his wounds several days later at one of the base hospitals.  A memorial service was held in Badsey on 15th April.
