DURING THE GREAT WAR 1914 – 1919

John Foden Malins was born in Willersey in 1899.  In 1911 John aged 12 lived with his widowed mother Emma Malins and his 4 brothers at the Post Office, Hampton.  He enlisted in the Royal Warwickshire Regiment on 4th November 1916 at Pershore when he was aged 17 years 11 months and employed as a Market Gardener.  His next of kin was his mother Emma, 36 Pershore Road, Hampton, Evesham.  John was wounded in action on 24th October 1918 with a gunshot wound to his stomach.  He was posted to the army reserve in March 1919.  Private John F. Malins, 26435, Royal Warwickshire Regiment was awarded the Victory Medal and the British War Medal.  He died in Hereford in 1986.
