Further Information About MADGE Harold
There is no record of this casualty on the CWGC.
Harold Thomas Madge was born on 20th August 1895 at Bransford, Worcestershire. On the 1901 census, aged 5, he is recorded as the adopted son of Robert and Charlotte Malvern residing in Salisbury Terrace, Malvern Link. In 1911, aged 15, Harold is employed as a kitchen porter at The Foley Arms Hotel in Malvern. On 25th September 1912 he enlisted as a Private in the Royal Marine Light Infantry, Plymouth Division, serving throughout WW1. His last recorded service was on President II (I.A.M.S.) from 21st February 1918 to 21st April 1918 with the word ‘Run’ in the cause of discharge from division or ship column. The British Armed Forces and Overseas Death Records give the death of a serviceman at sea named only as Madge with no 1st name given on the Tagus in January 1919. I can find no other death record for a Harold Madge. Also appears on Malvern Link C of E School and St Matthias, Malvern Link.
