The following entry appears in the United Parish Magazine, Wichenford, August 1916:
The latest news of Harry Loynes reports a slight improvement, but it has been a long and terrible illness, and he is by no means out of danger yet. I t is a very severe ordeal for his wife, and she has our sympathy and prayers.

United Parish Magazine, Wichenford, September 1916:
As I write these notes Harry Loynes is still alive, but doctors give not hope of recovery; but while there is life there is hope, and the issues of his life and death are in Greater Hands €“ for with the Great Physician all things are possible.

United Parish Magazine, Wichenford, December 1916:
HARRY LOYNES
After a very long and trying illness, Harry Loynes died on Sunday, November 19th, in a Military Hospital.  His illness was contracted when carrying out his military duties, and consequently he has given his life for his country as much as if he had died on active service.

We all feel deeply for his widow, but she has the consolation of knowing that he did his duty.  She will have the sincere sympathy of the whole parish.  To his parents we also offer our deep sympathy in their loss R.I.P.
