Further Information About LLOYD Harry

Harry Lloyd lived in Oldswinford and attended Oldswinford CE School, later he lived at Wollaston. He enlisted in the Worcesters probably in 1916 and went on active service with the 10th Battalion in the 19th Division later that year. He took part in the later stages of Third Ypres and early in 1918 the battalion moved to the front line near St. Quentin. They were in the second defensive line when the great German Spring Offensive started on the 21st March. The first line Divisions were outnumbered and gave way, leaving the Worcesters and their fellow battalions to retreat in an orderly fashion. Nevertheless, there were many casualties as the German forces continued to advance. Somewhere near Bapaume on the 24th March Private Harry Lloyd was killed in action.

Harry Lloyd has no known grave, the photograph available shows his name on Arras Memorial.
